A tobacconist used to run a snuff making factory close by this building hence the name of the lane. The lane also provides a short cut from my house to Cottingham village shops so I often go by here.
Yesterday in Cottingham I saw an old picture on the wall of the Tiger public house of a windmill down Snuff Mill lane and wondered if snuff was ever made there, so it was interesting to read this bit of information. Thank you.
