We see similar ties all over southern California, especially in older brick buildings. Here their purposes is to hold the building together during an earthquake.
Hull was once the epicentre of an earthquake. It was in 1703 and measured about 4,although who measured I'm not sure. I think heavy traffic will do more harm in these parts.
