Icicles

A lengthy bit of cold weather does wonders to the Rosebowl fountain in Queen's Gardens. These are the best icicles I've seen here since 2010 and the last big freeze. It's turning a tad milder now so I guess these will be gone soon.

The Weekend in Black and White is here.

  1. Icicles are beautiful, we don't see them all that often. I'm a bit surprised your fountain is still working.
Yes, I well remember December 2010 - I managed to slip on some ice and fracture my pelvis. I moved around the house in my office chair (rolling backwards was easiest) and served Christmas dinner by remote control ("Yes, that's ready, now carve it carefully" and stuff like that!)

  2. They are photogenic!

Our fountains get shut down by early November and aren't turned on again until sometime in the latter half of April.

  3. Ach!!! 2010 we lived in Mammoth Lakes, California... a ski resort... and we had snow up to the middle of the second story window!!! Lovely icicles! I do miss icicles and of course, freshly fallen snow...but not missing the cold all that much!!!

  4. Excellent. Quite a contrast with when I was there last summer. Life would be boring if our seasons were all the same.
