Narrow Racket, Beverley

  1. Nice shots. please tell us more about Narrow Racket

  2. Bill Narrow Racket is a passage way between Lairgate and the Saturday Market. I've no idea how it got its name. My guess, and it is a guess, is that the namae is a corruption of narrow race (as in mill race that sort of thing).
The passage was until recently a dingy place, quite Dickensian, now the Council or some other set of idiots have put "Art Works" on the passage walls. These are, as you might imagine totally out of place and ruin the whole atmosphere. Sometimes I wonder what we've done to deserve these punishments! I'm beginning to sound like an old grump ...

  3. That’s interesting, Billy B. When I go to places like this I enjoy seeing them as they were when they were built. Why do they spoil buildings and structures by trying to make them bright and colourful? Leave them be!
