Can't stand the heat

I have mentioned from time to time that Hull is filling up with places to drink coffee. It seems that there is now so much competition that this outlet is due to close on Sunday. From what I gather (and bear in mind I don't drink the stuff) this firm specialises in particularly weak, insipid brews, indeed their product was so poorly received by UK customers they had to double the strength of the lattes. So for aficionados of the bean it will be no great loss and there still remains a branch in St Stephens. No doubt another coffee shop will take its place before too long.

  1. I don't drink the stuff either. We've got no shortage of Starbucks here, but in Canada, the big coffee shop is Tim Hortons. The country sometimes seems infested with them.

  2. Ahhh ... now I DO drink the stuff. And I would not touch Starbucks with a barge-pole. It is no more than sweetened dish-water. That is an opinion ... right? A good coffee in Sydney, can be purchased from a hole-in-the-wall bar near the corner of George and Park Streets, called "Workshop Espresso". The queue is diabolical.

  3. Looks like Starbucks underestimated the population of Hull.

  4. I'm a Starbucks customer from way back--all the way to their first store in Seattle's Pike Place Market in the 1970s. I have never heard Starbucks' coffee called weak. To me, it's bitter which is why I only drink the frou-frou drinks like mochas and frappaccinos. And even then, I ask for decaf, non-fat, no whip, otherwise called a "niente" meaning "Why bother?

  5. American coffee is usually too watery, what we call 'potato water'
