Click and Collect

This appeared just down the road a few weeks ago. It's a safe for parcels to be dropped off and then you come along and collect at your convenience. With all this internet shopping and so forth I suppose it saves having to organise redelivery if you are out when the postman calls. I have to say I've not seen anyone actually use it as yet.

  1. This appeared in Germany more than ten years ago. At least there, you have to register with your local post office in order to be able to collect your parcels. The service goes further. Not only you can collect, but you can also send parcels. Just put it in one of the boxes and the postman collects it.

  2. Same in Prague. Saves a lot of time on delivery, as people mostly live in flats and can be hard to reach/find. Means you don't have to wait for the postman too.

  3. Here the parcels tend to get left at the nearest postal outlet and a notice is left in the mailbox.

  4. Lately there have been a lot of mail thefts from front porches in my neighborhood. Something like this might come in handy, though I'd want to pretty it up a bit.
